Salon duc Tape – The Green Transition – November 10th

**********

Perspectives on renewables, other alternative energy sources, and carbon dioxide sequestration

At the salon on November 10th, Heidi Leathwood of 350 Colorado will present on the latest IPCC AR-6 synthesis report and what it tells us about the role of various technologies and practices being discussed as climate solutions. What is the difference between direct air capture, carbon capture and storage, and carbon dioxide removal using natural methods? Is hydrogen really a clean energy source? What is renewable natural gas and are there other things that fall under the category ‘renewable’? What about geothermal and nuclear energy technology? What is the most cost-effective way to transition to clean energy, and how do various technologies play a role? Heidi doesn’t presume to have a definitive answer to all of these questions, but will be presenting what she has learned from peer-reviewed studies, what the IPCC report says, and some of the things happening these days in Colorado. After the presentation, she will lead a question and response session.

Heidi is the Climate Policy Analyst with 350 Colorado, where she has been on staff since January, 2021, working on regulatory and legislative policy. Before embarking on her current career, she raised two children, was a professional pianist teaching at the University of Denver, and was Director of Training at a school to train Alexander Technique teachers. She holds a graduate certificate in Environmental Policy, has nearly completed a paralegal certificate, and brings a passion for climate action to her new career.

Salon duc Tape, a public forum sponsored by the Northern Colorado Alliance for a Livable Future  (NCALF), usually meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month from 7:00 — 9:00 p.m. This meeting will be held online via Zoom; you will need to register in advance here.
