Salon duc Tape – Climate Conscious Home Improvements – September 8th
**********
How can people address the climate crisis by making home improvements?
Our first salon after summer break will take place on Friday, September 8th. Join us for a presentation by Ken Orgoglioso of the Foothills Unitarian Church Climate Justice Ministry and the Citizens Climate Lobby Building Electrification and Efficiency Team, who will talk about how homeowners and renters can take steps to improve their dwellings’ energy efficiency while improving their physical health and safety and lowering their utility expenses. Each example he gives will progress from describing the most basic and cost effective means of maximizing energy efficiency to additional solutions that show how currently available technologies can lower and possibly eliminate the need for natural gas, gasoline and electricity through full electrification and decarbonization of homes.
Ken, whose last name is pronounced Or-go-lee-o-so, moved to Colorado in 1978 so he could work in construction. In his first 30 years, Ken worked in seven different states participating in and managing the new and remodel construction of many schools, hospitals, hotels, businesses, prisons, coal fired power stations and thousands of homes. For the past 13 years, he expanded his business into general contracting and project management, specializing in remodel construction of additions, basements and the improvement of home functionality and efficiency. Now, as global warming continues to worsen, it has become Ken’s goal to reach more than one family at a time and to help end their need to create CO2 emissions that are heating up our planet and endangering our lives.
Salon duc Tape, a public forum sponsored by the Northern Colorado Alliance for a Livable Future (NCALF), usually meets on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month from 7:00 — 9:00 p.m. We generally meet online via Zoom, but plan to hold one in-person salon this fall at the FoCo Cafe on September 22nd. You will need to register in advance for this salon here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information – including a new link – about joining the salon.
