At the Platte River Power Authority (PRPA) Board meeting on October 29^th, the Board will consider adopting Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) Portfolio #2, also known as the “zero coal option.” This portfolio lays out a 20-year plan for providing power to Fort Collins, Longmont, Loveland, and Estes Park (“the owner communities.”) It features construction of a new fossil/fracked gas generation plant in 2030 and only 90% renewable electricity/energy provided to the owner communities by that year. This is not consistent with the Resource Diversification Policy adopted by the Board in 2018, which calls for100% non-carbon electricity by 2030.
