Public Meetings: Greenhouse Gas Reduction Planning for Oil and Gas Midstream Segment

Please join us for a community meeting about reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the oil and gas industry’s “midstream facilities.” This includes facilities like compressor stations and natural gas processing plants.

The Air Pollution Control Division is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollution. To advance this work an external technical workgroup is developing a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the oil and gas industry’s midstream segment. This proposed state-wide Emission Reduction Plan is in development by the Midstream Steering Committee, which is a group of experts from local governments, electric utilities, community organizations, and industry. 

During development of the plan, the division is seeking community input to ensure the plan prioritizes greenhouse gas reductions that also cause reductions of harmful air pollutants in disproportionately impacted communities.  

The Air Pollution Control Division will request a rulemaking hearing on this subject to the Air Quality Control Commission by August 2024, with the rulemaking hearing planned for December 2024.

This work is part of Colorado’s ongoing work to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets for the industrial sector as outlined in the state’s Greenhouse Gas Pollution Reduction Roadmap.
